Then the government allowed the vaccination of the adults (18 to 45 years) from May 2021. Finally the government has opened the vaccination drive for youngsters falling in the age group of 18 to 15 years. These children can take the vaccine from 3rd January 2022.

Until the 30th of April 2020, the Government of India has confined vaccination efforts to the adult population of India aged 45 and above. This was done specifically to guarantee that the most vulnerable individuals received immunizations first when there was a shortage of vaccines functioning concurrently.

The scenario slowly changed. This change actually occurred in two ways:
1. The reach of the pandemic increased, and we saw an increasing number of our population’s younger members becoming infected with Covid-19. We have seen not only are many children becoming extremely ill, but there were also a large number of fatalities among them. The government has a difficult problem in meeting the demands of such a large population, both for beds and for oxygen cylinders.
2. Vaccine manufacturers were able to overcome the initial daunting condition and began to bring in some parity between the supply and the demand.
So, we finally saw government coming up with the changes in plan – more inclusive vaccination drives.

How to Register for Covid-19 Vaccination?

Update:
Government of India Has lately decided to commence the Covid-19 vaccination drive for children. In this initial phase kids in age group of 18 to 15 years will be given the priority. You can read this article to know more about vaccination for children.

Until 30th April 2020, Government of India had restricted the vaccination drives only to the adult population of India who are aged 45 years and more. This was specially done in order to ensure that the more vulnerable people gets vaccines on priority when there was a constraint of sufficient supply of vaccines operating parallelly.

Gradually the situation changed. The change actually happened in two fold – the span of infection increased and we witnessed more and more of our population’s younger section to get affected in the infection of Covid-19. Not only are many youngsters getting seriously infected, there is also high number of casualties in them. Catering to the needs of such a huge population, both for beds and for oxygen cylinders, is a heavy task for the government.

Also, at the sometime, the manufacturers of the vaccines could surpass the initial overwhelming situation and started to meet up the demand.
