The Punjab Police retrieved a live hand grenade from a border hamlet in the state’s Fazilka district on Monday, just in a time when we have few days left for our 75th Republic Day. While this is being reported ahead of the Punjab Assembly Elections, it is worth noting that the area is located near the Indo-Pakistan border. According to on-the-ground reports, the bomb disposal team was dispatched to the scene to manage the emergency. A controlled explosion was carried out by the bomb disposal team.
The Amritsar STF Finds 5 kg of RDX Near the International Border at Attari.
On Friday, the Amritsar Special Task Force (STF) found 5 kg of RDX near the international border in Attari’s Dhanoa Kala hamlet, only three days earlier. The bomb team that was on the scene defused the explosion. The STF also seized six AK 47 rifle rounds, two grenades, three UBGL, seven detonators, three fuses, a pouch, and a bag in addition to the RDX.
In the meanwhile, an investigation has been initiated. According to Punjab Police sources, certain individuals have been arrested and are being questioned by the STF in connection with the RDX seizure.
The IED was found in Delhi
On the same day, a massive security warning was issued in Delhi after the recovery of an IED from one of Ghazipur’s biggest flower marketplaces. Following the discovery of an abandoned bag, police and the bomb disposal team were sent to the market in East Delhi on Friday.
Around 1.40 p.m., Delhi Police Commissioner Rakesh Asthana announced that the bag had an improvised explosive device, which the bomb disposal unit successfully defused. “An IED has been found based on the information received,” CP Asthana stated.
After cordoning off the area, the National Security Guard (NSG) carried out a controlled explosion. Images from the scene showed plumes of smoke emerging from the bomb disposal site. The IED recovery occurs just before the 75th Republic Day on January 26.
