On Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made an appeal to the people of Karnataka, urging them to give his Aam Aadmi Party a chance to establish a government free from corruption for five years. He promised to provide free electricity, quality education in government schools, and good healthcare for the people of the state. Speaking at his first election public meeting in Karnataka, Kejriwal stated that the party has a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption, citing the example of a minister and MLA in party-ruled Punjab who were jailed. He criticized the ruling BJP in Karnataka, claiming that the state is being run by a 40% commission government. Kejriwal further mentioned the recovery of Rs 8.23 crore unaccounted cash from Channagiri BJP MLA Madal Virupakshappa’s son and criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for failing to eradicate corruption in the state during the last four years. The AAP chief accused the government of taking action against an 82-year-old contractor who wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi about ministers in Karnataka demanding a 40% commission instead of addressing his grievance or taking action against the ministers and MLAs. Kejriwal also claimed that contractors, private unaided schools, and Maths (hermitage) are charged a 40% commission.
